Long Prose Essay on Aldoux Huxleys Brave New World
The world in which we live in today is a good one, it is not quite utopia, nor is it dystopia, but could you imagine what it would be like if it was utopia or dystopia? ... In the novel Brave New World, the author, Aldous Huxley, presents many issues and two completely different worlds. ... ” (Huxley; 1932 pg 200-201) This is a quote out of the novel, Brave New World. ... There are many different views on what the final message of this book really is, one may say that it promotes a stable world where sacrifices don’t matter, or even that it promotes different political systems, one may also say that the final message is the readers view and the readers response to the issues which they have been presented with. The issue which this particular quote deals with is why the new World State is better and why the sacrifices that were made were justifiable. The quote is said by Mustapha Mond, a world controller, to John Savage. In this section of the book John Savage is questioning the world state and asking whether the stability was really worth it or not. The quote, which is Mustapha Mond’s reply to Mr Savage, justify’s that stability was worth it and the world is better off. ... Mustapha Mond also points out the advantages of the brave new world when he says, “ They’re well off; they’re safe; they’re never ill; they’re not afraid of death;” (Huxley; 1932 pg 200) these points support the issue by suggesting that even though the emotions were taken away from the people and they’re lives were predestined in the brave new world it did not matter because the people were happy and healthy.
