Selling G-d In R. Laurence Moore’s book, Selling G-d, Moore stated, “the market side of American religious life provided its self a godsend, figuratively speaking,…in supplying a frame of orderly interaction for what might have been a frightfully vicious situation.”. What Moore is alluding to, is that without some form of playing field for the various religions denominations to “battle it out”, there would be chaos. With so many up and coming denominations and the rising population of immigrants, Moore’s point had become even more correct. Without the market place as a battle ground, these denominations could not compete and proclaim there correctness without the possibility of warfare, and other undesirable things.
