Riley King was born in September 16, 1925 on a plantation in Itta Bene, Mississippi. King’s parents, who were tenant farmers, separated and shortly thereafter his mother died, so he basically lived on his own. ... In those times there was segregation so that brought up many missed opportunities for King and poverty stricken didn’t help much either because he lived on his own. ... He stayed with his Cousin blues great Bukka White, there his cousin helped King hone his blues skills.
