The Divine Wind” written by Gary Disher presents many key issues to the readers; some issues that are amongst us in everyday life and others that you hope will never happen in this day and age. ... In the war year’s life was very tough for anybody that was not born in Australia and that is exactly what happens in “The Divine Wind”. ... The main character in “The Divine Wind” is Hart; Hart is deeply in love with Mitsy and never portrays Mitsy or any Japanese people as spies. ... In “The Divine Wind” a lot of assumptions are made against the aboriginal people, that they lack moral standards and decent behaviour. ... “The Divine Wind” not only helps the reader to understand the traumatic times faced in the past but makes us sympathise with the characters and how back life was back then. Very few novels change the way we think about an issue, and this is true in “The Divine Wind”, in my opinion I think it builds upon what we already know but takes a further step forward in detail.
