Geek
As early as kindergarten I had already been labeled a geek. ... They called me a geek behind my back instead of pointing and laughing at me when I could see them. ... But I heard the snickers and sneers, “She’s such a geek.” Eventually I learned to stand up for myself, but as it turns out, the word geek did not even start with the meaning it has today. Although geek has always carried a negative connotation, its origin dates back five hundred years; it is derived from a Low German/Dutch word geck.
