McLellan 1 The Prevention and Early Intervention on Sexually Exploited Children and Youth Project has the goal to provide early intervention to at-risk youth, particularly female youth, who have been newly recruited or are likely to be recruited into prostitution. ... The Prevention and Early Intervention of Sexually Exploited Children and Youth Project is designed to be implemented in Victoria, British Columbia. ... The program targets youth aged 12 to 18 years of age, predominantly females but not excluding males, who have been exposed or are at-risk of being involved into prostitution. There is a disproportionate measure of the victimization of youth crime because youth involved in the sex trade have a higher chance of being robbed, assaulted physically and sexually, and murdered. The Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FTP) Working Group on Prostitution is striving to assist and protect youth, and to apprehend and prosecute those who sexually exploit them. This is a community-based proposal that uses the creation of a Youth Outreach Operations Team and other various agencies involved in working with sexually exploited youth to reduce the number of youth entering and working in the sex trade industry. The project provides (Donovan, 2000): *Early Intervention: Integrated team will intervene when youth are motivated to leave sex trade; provide safe secure housing to youth exiting; support youth throughout court process when testifying against pimps and bad tricks, etc.
