The Crucible During the trial towards the end of act three, Mary Warren finally speaks out against Abigail and the rest of the girls. She labels them liars, frauds, and states that she must tell the truth about them once and for all. Quote “I cannot lie no more, I am with God, I am with God.” Fearing that their travesty would soon be uncovered and the punishment for such a crime would be harsh, Abigail and the rest of the girls turn on Mary. Abigail at first, mimicking Mary’s every words. The others follow in unison. One by one, they all begin to imitate Mary’s every words. Mary is horrified. All the while, Danforth believes in this charade put on by Abby and the rest of the girls. He begins to question Mary’s actions and tells her to remove her spirits from within the girls.
