The metamorphosis

Psychological Analysis of “The Metamorphosis” Insanity is defined as a deranged state of mind described as utterly foolish and unreasonable. In Kafkas “The Metamorphosis” this definition of insanity directly correlates with the plot. The main character, Gregor, is a victim of mental suffering. The outcome of Gregors mental suffering is shown through Gregors mental metamorphosis. In my opinion the main character did not physically transform into a bug, he only thought he had. The stories distance from reality, vagueness of detail, and abstractness all lead the reader to choose his/her own interpretation of the story. The plot of this story is so un realistic that the reader is left to question whether the author is trying to stress the reality of the situation or whether he’s creating an illusion for the reader to decipher on his own.
