"Ideal" Teachers
In the world of modern martial arts, there are three main types of teachers: those who teach for the "dough," those who teach for the "show," and those who teach for the "go. ... The differences in the three types of teachers are not found in their styles of martial art or in the particular techniques taught in their schools: the main difference in these teachers is found in the motivation behind the teachings themselves. The ideals held by the teachers are normally very "in-tune" with the sources of their motivation. With teachers, motivation is the single most important factor in determining the essence of martial art they can give their students.
