Should suicide be a criminal offence

The suicide rate in Hong Kong has been rising drastically over the past few years. Every year there are many suicide numbers and characteristics similar to those ones reported in the West come out. The suicide rate starts to rise at adolescence. As suicide isn¡¯t taken very seriously to be illegal, people think it is fine to end their lives in a forceful manner. Should suicide be counted as a criminal offence? Would it be right to say committing suicide is against the law? ... The causes of suicide are numerous and the most common ones tend to be serious depression, exam stress, drug/alcohol abuse and ageing. Another cause of suicide is believe it or not religious beliefs. Extremist religion sects glorifies suicide, and displays to the public that suicide is accepted by society as long as they believe it satisfies their leader or god. The government has recently announced that the suicide rate is rising by at least 0. ... The age group with the biggest suicide rate is getting younger and younger all the time. In previous years, elderly suicide was huge and now the amount suicide attempts by young people is rising considerably. Research concludes that unemployment problems became the second most common reason for suicide in Hong Kong. Some believe that this increase of the suicide rate is directly related to failure of the new government led by Tung Chi Wa.
