Though I am not an expert in the love department, I know that these characters are (finish introduction) In the story, “Country Husband” by John Cheever, the main character Francis, tries to tell his family about the plane crash he experiences, but no one bothers to listen to him. His family does not realize what a big deal this plane crash is. They do not realize that this incident stirs up Francis’ emotions and how he feels that his life is suddenly suffocating him. Everything around him loses their value. Instead, he is awed by Anne Murchison’s beauty. When he sees Anne for the first time, he thinks that he is seeing “…the difference between beauty and perfection” (Cheever, 141). Francis becomes so enwrapped in Anne that he dreams of “…crossing the Atlantic with her…and later, living with her in Paris (142). He believes he loves her, and he buys a bracelet for her. Unlike his own wife, Anne frees him. He feels “… restrained by the pink lamps on Julia’s dressing table” and he begins to write, “Dear Anne, I love you, I love you, I love you…” (146).
