From Act 1, Sc 2 or Act 3, Sc 2 choose a character who you have performed or would like to have performed. Say in detail how this character should be played, taking into consideration such things as voice, movement, gesture, posture, facial expression etc. I am writing about Bottom a Carpenter in Athens and I am writing about Act One Scene Two. Bottom is a very amateur actor, his normal profession is a weaver. However he fancies himself has a top class performer. He has been selected top perform a play along with a group of other no-hopers. Bottom is quite obviously the best actor in the group, he knows this, but he seems to think he is quite a lot better than what he really is. I interpret Bottom as quite a large man, jolly and the happy-go-lucky type. He is the sort of person that must have a say in everything. In the scene the troupe of actors enter one by one, Bottom is near the front which shows his eagerness and forwardness, Quince the man in charge says his line and this is quickly followed by Bottom who is immediately telling him his views on how t handle the situation, in this case the simple matter of organisation of the actors and their roles. This is showing that he likes things his way. He speaks the rest of his lines at the beginning of the scene with an essence of him being ‘full of himself’ in his voice.
