The 1931 film of Frankenstein (directed by James Whale and starring Boris Karloff) is the original film of Frankenstein. ... Today if you asked anyone to describe Frankenstein they would describe the creature from this film this shows the amount of impact it had on its audience as it is still remembered now 73 years later. The people would however be describing the wrong person as the common mistake is the people believing the monster to be called Frankenstein when it is actually the doctor’s name, the monster doesn’t have a name. ... In this version Frankenstein is portrayed as a typical mad scientist, by his action and his dress ware, this is also helped by the fact he has a small menacing hunchback s an assistant. ... The camera does a close up of Dr Frankenstein to show his expressions and evilness and to show the audience how crazy he really is. ... When Frankenstein walks through the door he comes in backwards and very slowly this creates a lot of suspense. ...
There are close ups on Dr Frankenstein’s face to show how he feels; excited and then unhappy. ... They feel sorry for it when Frankenstein rejects it and it is hit on the head and hung up on chains, the audience dislike Frankenstein because he attacked something so vulnerable and helpless.
