The Inferno written by Dante Alighieri is a story about hell and the different stages people go through. The story takes us through Dante’s journey of hell the many things he encounters. There are many different parts of hell, Dante starts at the top and walks through to the bottom. The different divisions are set for specific sinners and their punishments. Throughout the story Dante walks through them all and observes his surroundings. In each canto Dante walks through and see different kinds of sinners and what they punishment is. Technically he starts from the least offensive sins walking through till he gets to the most offensive sins. Everyone has a different view on hell and what it would be like depending on their morals, likes and dislikes. Dante tried to cover all aspects of fear and punishment. Each type of sin had a particular punishment because not all sins are on the same level. Hell is shaped in circular levels that are in the center of the earth. The least offensive sins were higher up which are closer to God, while the more offensive sins are closer to the earths core where Satin is located. Man has his own free will in which they get what they choose. The punishment that these people chose is merely a continuation of the sin they chose. In the Inferno there are three basic sins that hell is broken up into. They are Incontinence, loss of self-control, violence and fraud. Incontinence is considered the least offensive sin, therefore it is in the outer most lining of hell closest to God. As they get worse they are closer and closer to the core of the earth.
