Position: Patrol Officer I (probationary position) Patrol Officer II Patrol Officer III (Training Officer) Description Patrol Officer rank is divided into three pay grade advancement ranks: POI, POII and POIII. A Patrol Officer may be assigned to a foot beat, a marked patrol car, bicycle patrol or a two-wheel motorcycle. A Patrol Officer I is a probationary officer who automatically advances to Patrol Officer II upon successful completion of his/her probationary field training period. is usually under the direct supervision of a or other supervisor during field training and certification processing. Only under exigent circumstances are POI’s allowed to patrol without direct supervision. Patrol Officers (POI, POII) perform basic duties such as: Respond to client calls for service Interview clients, suspects or witnesses related to a crime against a client Complete crime or incident reports Initiate sales calls and complete new client patrol agreements Respond to radio calls Monitor suspicious activity and report crimes to law enforcement officials Direct vehicular traffic during exigent circumstances Assist law enforcement officials as directed or needed Answer client, citizen or resident questions within company guidelines Prepare and complete daily field activity reports Attend neighborhood watch and community meetings Perform numerous other activities in support of community policing or client concerns A Patrol Officer III may perform additional duties such as: Supervise Patrol Officer I’s or Security Guards Direct and guide POI’s in legal aspects of private security Train and educate POI’s on company policies and mission Meet with technicians and/or clients to supervise alarm installations Skills and Qualities of a Patrol Officer All Patrol Officers should demonstrate an aptitude and interest in private security and protection services, the principles, priorities and philosophy of working in a dynamic and demanding position.
