Many of these high rated fees are being made to make up for or pay the fees that are the local school districts responsibility. The school districts past budget problems aren’t paid by the school, but instead are paid by the families. Many school districts have considered taking all extra-curricular programs out of the school district. They are worried the lower-income students will not have the same opportunities as others. As one mother states, “there might be kids thinking about going out for a team and are being held back from the opportunity because of the cost.” Some families believe the only thing-keeping students in school are the extra activities, which do not cost anything to participate in.
