Compition

I was a hyper kid growing up. So when I turned nine my mom put me in gymnastics. I started out on the recreational team. We didn’t do much; it was more like a daycare rather than a real gymnastics team. Around my fourth or fifth day we were climbing ropes. Most of the kids could barley get up the rope, and the ones that could were struggling greatly. When it came time for me to go I simply grabbed the rope and scurried right up to the top. The thing that caught the attention of my soon to be couch was that I did it with no legs. So that night I got a call from Norm the men’s gymnastics teams couch. He told me that he was impressed with my upper body strength and he wanted me on the team. This is where it all started. From that day on I was in the gym working out strenuously. I was only ten but I was in the gym everyday, five hours a day. I was competing as well and this went on for two years. It was a difficult life working out, competing and dealing the everyday pressure of doing such a hard sport at such a young age. I had a goal though I wanted to win the biggest computation of the year, the Las Vegas junior final. I had been there twice already and gotten almost last place every time. Not this time though I had trained for almost the entire year and I wasn’t losing. Computation season final started and I had my season opener on Mercer Island. The computation started at six-thirty in the morning, our first event was vault. I always hated doing vault first, mostly because I was barley awake and the last thing I wanted to do was strip down to my shorts and jump over a big piece of wood. My turn finally came up; I saluted the judges and stepped on to the runway, trying my hardest not to over think what I had to do. I ran down the runway and jumped right over the vault perfectly. I saluted the judge and ran back to my team getting high fives from everyone. I sat down on the bench waiting for my score. Nine point six, yes I said quietly to my self and got up to go to my next few events.
