Beowulf Summary
Beowulf is a poem that was written a long time ago. ... Beowulf was a young warrior in Geatland who comes to their aid with 14 of his best men. He is going to help Hrothgar because he had once helped Beowulf’s dad during a big fight, and because he is hoping that he will get a lot of treasure and people will think he is a great warrior. There is a guy named Unferth who makes fun of Beowulf when he first gets there and tells everybody about a swimming contest he lost and tells everybody he is no match for Grendel. Beowulf tells everybody that he had killed nine sea monsters before he got back to shore, and that Unferth isn’t really telling everybody the true story. ... Beowulf and the Beats (his best men) go to bed waiting for Grendel to show up and he does. He kills one of them and goes after Beowulf.
