Knighthood Essay

Knighthood Essay Knight- (n.) A defender, champion, or zealous upholder of a cause or principle, honored by the sovereign for personal merit Before I was given the opportunity in English class to act as a knight for a week, performing good deeds didn’t mean much to me. I always did the right things like listening to my parents when they tell me to do my chores or go to bed, but I really didn’t take the extra step everyday to go out of my way to do something nice or helpful for others. When I got home from school that day, I did a little research online about what a knight today really does. I knew that people are still knighted but not for the same purpose as it was in King Arthur’s time. Famous people are knighted in England for just being good people and doing honest, admirable things. Although my good deeds aren’t enough for me to be knighted for real, I learned that doing a little deed could make a big difference. My first honorable deed was a big one for me—cleaning my mess of a room. My mom had been bugging me for weeks to pick up all my clothes and pillows and stuffed animals and books and other junk off the floor. So, one not so special day, I began to clean without having my mom to ask me a million times. When I was done with the floor I started to clean out the trash from under my bed.
