Title: The Hobbit
Author: J R Tolken
Text Type: Novel
Date Published: 1999 (first published 1937)
Brief Summary of Plot:
At the beginning of The Hobbit, we are introduced to Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit from the shire. Bilbo is an average hobbit (not ever doing anything unexpected or going on any adventures) until the wizard Gandalf the Grey shows up at his ‘Hobbit Hole’ and invites him to go on an adventure with a group of dwarfs and the grey wizard himself to the distant lonely mountain in which a huge treasure lies guarded by the fierce dragon Smaug. ... Bilbo is faced with a difficult decision to decide wether he should go or not as it would be such an uncharacteristic and demeaning thing for a hobbit to do.
