David Crews Psychology of death 5/3/04 Final Reflection paper My first topic that I would like to discuss is death anxiety. This is Chapter 3. This is my fist personal issue. I think everybody has some degree of death anxiety. It’s an unknown topic with several theories, so this makes us unsure what to expect. Any thing that has an unknown outcome is intimidating the human race. The book says many studies assume that death anxiety does exist, and individuals will be both willing and able to disclose their death anxieties. For myself I realized that it’s normal to experience death anxiety. The broader issue I would like to cover is the death system in every society. “The concept of a death system is a way of understanding death-related practices and how a society interacts with death-related experiences.” This is chapter four. It’s important to understand the death related practices. One reason is because like I said before we are not comfortable with what we don’t know, so for us to understand and appreciate what goes on helps us all push forward to even better understandings.
