Job was a righteous man that loved God and turned away from evil in the time before Christ. ... Job was so righteous that God allowed Satan to test Job to prove that a man could remain faithful to God in the face of abundant sorrows. Job’s life changed drastically under the torment of Satan as did his knowledge of reality.
In the beginning of The Book of Job, Job is a holy faithful man who is blessed with abundant material wealth and offspring, seemingly because he is an upright man in God’s eyes. Job believes God is in control and will keep sorrow far from his family due to their faith.
