OVERVIEW OF THE CONTENT OF ARTICLE
The research article is about an experimental study to compare the effects of jaw relaxation and music on postoperative pain. ... This might have influenced her to undertake this piece of research. Another factor which might have influenced the author to write about this research is that she found out that a few studies from the past showed that both relaxation and music reduce postoperative pain, others have not and none have compared this interventions to a combination of relaxation and music, so the aim was to compare the combined effects and the individual effects. ... Having given the information about the studies done in the past, the researcher also gave the references of the textbooks and journals to back the information being discussed in the research. This is quite helpful because it gives the sound background into the nature of the research and it shows how previous works published supported or opposed the topic under discussion (Wood and Harber, 1986). The author made a critique of previous research pointing out the possible differences of the outcomes.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
RESEARCH QUESTION
The research question was based on Orems self-care deficit theory of nursing and the gate control theory of pain which according to the researcher proposed that self care action for pain relief could improve well-being by reducing the sensory and affective components of pain.
