March King

John Philip Sousa, I can safely say, was one of the greatest composers of all time. He was considered the “March King”. He wrote hundred of marches that were enjoyable to listen to, but also very intricate. His compositions were masterful pieces of art. Sousa did not have the appearance of the stereotypical composer, instead he was very short and stocky. It is an amazement to believe how such a little man could create such beauty, and influence so many. John Philip Sousa’s life began in Washington, DC, on November 6, 1854. He was the third of ten children of John Antonio Sousa and Maria Elisabeth Trinkhaus.
