Anti lock brakes
In cars now a days there is a newer form of brakes, these brakes were made due to failure to control the car in a wet or dangerous driving situation at high speeds. In this report I will explain what Anti lock brakes are, how they work, how too use them and why you should get a car with them included. Anti lock brakes or “ABS” is a newer computerized braking system designed to help to allow you to control the car better in hazardous driving conditions at high speeds. In normal brakes when you push on the pedal it triggers air pumps to push plates against the inside of the tire, effetely slowing them down. When driving on wet roads or roads at high speed pressing the break at high speed makes the pedal “ lock up” on the brake making steering impossible which leads to skidding and hydroplaning. ... There are four main parts of the Anti lock brake system they are: Speed sensors, valves, pumps and the controller. Speed Sensors; The anti-lock braking system needs some way of knowing when a wheel is about to lock up. ... Also to regain pressure there is a pump; since the valve is able to release pressure from the brakes, there has to be some way to put that pressure back. ... The older form of brakes which are Disc are drum have less complex system of stopping which in theory are less safe. Many cars have drum brakes on the rear wheels and disc brakes on the front.
