American History X Life is not at all as simple as we may imagine. Complications are brought forth to let us know that life is not as simple as we think. No one can be held responsible for our own actions. The movie “American History X,” shows society how terrifying youth violence truly is. Prejudice has been around for years. Edward Norton, who play’s the role of Derek Vinyard, was a confused skinhead that promoted white supremacy. Although we our responsible for our own actions as human beings, others can influence the way we think which in turn can affect a number of things. Cameron, a white supremacy believer, instilled negative thoughts and feelings into the children of the area. Cameron’s teachings lead to a number of violent acts carried out by those who he taught and eventually landed Derek in prison. Children learn a lot of what they believe in today at an early age. Thoughts and feelings stick with many kids until they grow old and pass away. Children are very susceptible to thinking that what they always hear and believe is true; when in fact it could not be any further from the truth.
