The Permit vs. the License Can you tell me what all kids look forward to while they are growing up? I’ll give you a hint: it involves a car and a rectangular piece of plastic stating your name and information about you, as well as your picture. Your license. Some may think that your license and permit are exactly the same, but I am here to prove them wrong. Having a permit compared to a license can be a very different experience, although it does have many of the same qualities. Your permit means you have the privilege to drive--if your front seat passenger has had his/her license for at least five years.
