The first thing I thought when I started to read Lydia Davis’ work was that it reminded me of the sitcom Seinfeld: “The show about nothing. ... In the story, “Meat, My Husband,” Davis goes on for five pages talking about all the foods a woman cooks for her husband. What I admire about Davis’ writing is the way she gives extreme detail in seemingly simple things. ... Lydia Davis has the ability to talk about ordinary subjects and present them in an unordinary setting. ... That’s what I like about Lydia Davis’ style.
