... I would have to say the greatest conflict in this novel would be the unresolved conflict between Edgar, Catherine and Heathcliff. Heathcliff and Catherine seem to be deeply in love, but they are never able to be together. ... Catherine obviously should and wants to be with Heathcliff. In this quote we see how she really feels about Heathcliff and how she longs to be with him, but his status and situation prevents her from marrying him. “It would degrade me to marry Heathcliff, now;so he shall never know how I love him; and that not because he is handsome, Nelly but because he’s more myself than I am.
