The first indoor mall in the United States was built at Southdale, in Edina, and the biggest is in another Minneapolis suburb. This is, of course, the Mall of America, a 4.2 million square feet mall! The Mall of America has become globally recognized as the largest entertainment and retail complex in the United States. Welcoming about 40 million guests each year, Mall of America in Minnesota is the nations number one visited attraction. Although youll also find many locals at the Mall, leisurely shopping, screaming as they try out the rides, eating at the many restaurants at snack bars, going to movies, and, of course, working. ... Many people go to the Mall to attend classes, doctors’ visits, and even to be married! In addition, the mall provides numerous free parking spaces surrounding close to the mall, unlike our malls in the Boston area where you pay high prices for parking.
