Karl Marx wrote the communist manifesto in 1848, along with the manager of his family’s textile factory Friedrich Engels. Following the writing of this paper there was a severe economic crisis surrounding him and his family, a crisis that claimed several of his own children. Later in his life he helped found the International working Man’s Foundation. Until his death in 1883, he remained the outspoken leader of the socialist movement. Marx claimed that throughout history there have been constant class struggles leading to capitalists constantly exploiting the working class. He says that these class struggles are due to a society in which a ruling class lives by exploiting the labor of others.
