World War One was the First World War, a total war. Many civilians became fighting soldiers because of nationalism and delusions for world conquest they felt. Just before war, people were making technology faster and efficient. Soon after the war had ended, the allies had to figure out how to place Europe back together as it was before. In a turn of events which would be bad for the future of the world, President Wilson's ineptitude and stubbornness led to the Senate defeat of the Treaty of Versailles. President Wilson was an idealistic progressive while in Europe. Wilson had many good plans to make a better Europe. The other allied leaders thought Wilson’s ideas were not all that good and he had expected. Wilson still agreed to the Treaty of Versailles because it contained what was most important to him, the League of Nations. The world still did not embrace the League of Nations as a good thing. "Will anyone advocate that those matters which are of vital importance to our people shall be submitted to a tribunal created other than by our own people and give it an international army subject to its direction and control to enforce its degrees?
