Every day use
Alice Walker
“Everyday use “ is a story about an African - American family, more specifically a mother and her two daughters, Dee and Maggie who lived in Georgia in late 1960 ‘s . ... She tells her mother and Maggie that they don’t understand their heritage because they are planning to put “ priceless”quilts to “everyday use” , and she would hang them on the wall as a document of history. ... Even though she would put quilts to everyday use, she still appreciate’s them as much as Dee and as a person who has love in her heart she can’t lose by giving the quilts away. ... ” Not only will she use them, but also she would go on making more. ... To put them to everyday use would be to admit her status as a member of her old-fashioned, ignorant family.
