Is War with Iraq the Answer
Why is the United States so adamant about going to war with Iraq? Is Saddam Hussein any more of a threat today than he was in the aftermath of the 1990 Gulf War? ... He has not invaded, nor threatened any other sovereign nation in the region since the end of the war. The United Nations embargo, and the no fly zones patrolled by the United States and its allies have helped to prevent Iraq gaining the necessary means to wage an all out war. During the Gulf War the Coalition destroyed much of Saddam Husseins’ military might. What the Coalition left was just enough for Iraq to protect itself from being attacked by its neighbors. ... ” An article written by Fouad Ajami, titled; “Iraq and the Arabs’ Future” is a very intellectual piece, and is well written one. ... His idea is that we should go to war with Iraq not because of their weapons of mass destruction, (that we’ve all been lead to believe) but for the sake of modernizing the Arab World. ... He references the attack on 9/11 as the turning point from containment in Iraq, toward a regime change.
