Throughout Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Robert M. ... Meshed into one idea, the idea of ‘Zen,’ in which a person is solely devoted to bettering one’s own inner self, there arises a single purpose throughout the book that Pirsig would have wanted the reader to get out of it: how connecting with one’s inner self enlightens a person’s understanding of existing ‘with’ the world as opposed to simply just relating to the world as an object ‘in’ it. ... Now that Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance has really sunk in, I have come to better understand the concept of truth, my own truth as opposed to blindly following other’s ideas and opinions through ignorance.
