Change and its relevance in Ode to a Nightingale’ and ‘Ode on a Grecian Urn’ and ‘The Door’. Change, like time is one of the few absolute continuums in life. One may even argue with due cause that change and time are almost one and the same thing. Both time and change are so intrinsically bound that the two are needed to fulfill the practical definition of each other and therefore are in a state of literary symbiosis. Does time exist without change? ... Does change exist without time in which to take place? ... Change is a recurrent theme in the three poems which I intend to examine (John Keats’s ‘Ode to a Nightingale’ and ‘Ode on a Grecian Urn’ and Miroslav Holub’s ‘The Door’, also known as ‘Go and Open the Door’). The theme of change exposes itself in Ode on a Grecian Urn through the vase.
