Raisin in the Sun

Raisin in the Sun Essay dream (drem) 1. To aspire or hope (with of). 2. To conceive of; imagine. In the book A Raisin in the Sun the members of the Younger family live very hard lives. Despite the difficulty of their living situation they all still dream of bigger and better things. With a $10,000 check coming the mail they see their chance to make these dreams come true. This makes things very complicated for the family, because the different and sometimes conflicting dreams of everybody actually makes life more difficult for the family as a whole. Although everyone in the family does have the same common goal: to make life better for the entire family. First, Beneatha has a dream of one day becoming a doctor. She sees the money as a way for her to pay for her college tuition for Medical School. At the time there was not many woman doctors, and almost none that were black. So to everyone else in the family her dreams seem impossible, but “Bennie” won’t let that stop her.
