Gender, Cultural Practices and Justice: Intervention


     Intervention can be seen in many forms. Family, friends, neighbors, police and law enforcement agents, social workers and organization for women are all part of potential intervention systems. Women in threatening situations need to be able to have a support system to seek out and receive help from. Women who need intervention, whether it is for domestic violence, financial aid for her and her children, child abuse or molestation, substance abuse rehabilitation or victims of crime and violence, should feel as though they have options. ... Specific women’s organizations should be easily accessible and have the funding and physical amenities to do so. The greatest form of intervention that we could provide to women is social intervention. The root of these problems lies within the structure of our society and the gender roles that have become norms. ... In regards to gender, cultural practices and justice we need to analyze and discuss another form of intervention; social intervention. ... Gendered social contexts often times function as moderators of sex and gender. Women and men have obvious physical and mental differences and similarities, but these seem to only exist because of the norms that our society assigns to women and men.
