Art is omnipresent in today’s society. A day rarely goes by when we do not encounter art in one of it’s many forms. The American Heritage Dictionary defines art as “Creative or imaginative activity, esp. ... When I think of art, a specific definition does not come to mind. For me, any form of so-called “art” must fulfill several criteria before I accept it as a true work of art. ... A finger painting a three-year-old did in their pre-school class may be cute, but it is not a work of art. ... Most art is made to be enjoyed by other people. A boring piece of art has failed. Out of the several artists that I am familiar with, the one that best exemplifies what I believe to be art is the modern painter Salvador Dali.
