All Quiet on the Western Front
All Quiet On The Western Front Erich Maria Remarque All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, in my opinion, is a very well written novel about a young man and his friends and the obstacles that they face while fighting in the German Army in World War I. ... The Author succeeded in showing how these young patriots went from doing what they thought was their patriotic duty as young men to a survival of the fittest in an unimaginable brutality of life on the front line. ... His place was now front line with his friends. ... Besides, when he was home, all anyone ever wants to talk about with him was war so he might as well be back with those that he felt really needed him. ... He is stuck there in this hole for what appears to be forever while this man slowly dies in front of him. ... I think at some point shortly after all of this, Paul decided he had better attempt to ignore this incident and some how shut off the emotional feelings in his conscience that is almost about to take him over the edge.
