America: land of the free and the home of the brave, but what would happen if our nation were not a nation of unity? What state would our great nation be in if each ethnic or racial group in America were to disband becoming smaller less powerful sub nations? ... Some call it racism, but it is nothing more than the selfish desire to erase an ethnic group(s) or separate them in order to for “one perfect nation”. ... 12) Unity in fact is the reason why America has become so great. ...
While racism, although not as strong, is an issue today. The first sign of racism dated far back in ancient times then carried itself over here. ... It’s sickening, but slavery and the beginnings of American racism probably derived from economic greed. The only way for slavery to continue in a nation like ours was to use racism as a crutch. ... It is important to our society that we start teaching our kids at a young age that racism is wrong. ... Racial prejudice is wrong and in 1988 the Catholic Church said it well in their report: “The Church and Racism: towards a more fraternal society”.
