Examine the issues of gender with regard to star identity
Gender is the social and cultural construction of a person’s sex and sexuality. It plays a big role in star identity, it dictates how we see the star, and leads the audience to make assumptions. ... There are lots of issues that can be raised with regard to star identity, in this essay I aim to look at the way women in this industry, portray themselves and indeed are portrayed. I will look at famous stars from the early years of cinema and the stars that are most predominant today and will examine the roles they play, the image they project off camera and the image the fans imprint on them. I intend to looks at all the factors that bring about this so-called “Star Identity”, including appearance, personality, roles they play and media attention. ...
