Should the western world’s experiences of development in the modern era serve as a model for the development of India? ... It affects social, political, and ecological concerns in the development of India. It is a very multifarious issue because of its impact on not only India itself, but also the rest of the world. ... There are two sides to this issue; one being yes, India should become westernized and the other being no, India should not base its development on the western ways. The Threat of Globalization to India’s Individualism
Once a nation becomes westernized, multinational corporations take the power away from the individual and into their own hands. ... Through westernization the government of India is offered many trading opportunities, most of which do not coincide with the needs of the people. ... India needs an independent structure of local bodies that can protect its political matters of significance in order to establish growth and in all aspects of industry and governmental issues to help ensure strong and stable economic growth. ... By having the World Trade Organization as a representative that only tramples the dignity and sovereignty of India, progress with be futile and the welfare of the general public will further diminish. Due to globalization, India’s working class that supports the economy and industrial production will suffer from mass layoffs and huge income disparities.
