... Today, the American Dream varies from person to person, but anyone who try’s and works hard enough can achieve it. ... These goals, which they formerly could only dream about, were now considered achievable in their lifetime – better known as the ‘American Dream. ... Even though America has been formed upon the diversities of its inhabitants- the "average American"- now had a similar ideal and goal --to pursue the American Dream. The Dream consists of a seemingly simple concept: achieving success. “The American ought therefore to love this country much better than that wherin either he or his industry follow with equal steps the progress of his labor” (Crevécoeur 86). Americans dream of a happy marriage and family, a successful career, and owning their own ‘Victorian-style home with a white picket fence’. ... The concept of the American Dream seems to have transformed from what it was when America first gained its independence to where it is today. “The American is a new man, who acts upon new principles; he must therefore entertain new ideas, and form new opinions” (Crevécoeur 87). ... In today’s society we all hope and strive for this dream, but how many actually achieve what we now consider the American Dream, where there is no limit to how much we can posses? One of the greatest figures in American history is Benjamin Franklin.
