The issue is whether or not there should be a salary cap. ... Most fans will not take the time to understand either. ... So I looked at a couple of areas to try and understand the issue of whether or not a salary cap should be enforced. ... I do not see as many problems in the NFL and NBA compared to baseball. ... The owners will not have to worry about paying for new stadiums. The seats will be filled with raging fans excited to watch the game, and not angry fans because of the recent problems in baseball. ... Beginning in 2007, the players promise not to challenge contraction moves by MLB. ... Unfortunately it is not a salary cap, but the smaller franchises do get more money. However, this deal does not discuss a salary cap, and with the minimum wage going up apparently one is not in the future. ... Currently, the public eye does not feel baseball is “The National Pastime. ... Now it seems like most players play for the next big contract, and not to enjoy the greatest game on earth. ... Obviously they do not see it that way. ... So I believe the players should ask this question to themselves: Will my already multi-million-dollar life be truly effected by a salary cap?
