Some say that punk is dead. ... Most punks agree that Punk is an expression of rebellion. The punk scene has been around for well over 25 years now so it isn’t a new fad or anything. ... Punk could very well be one, some, or all of the above. ... Each person defines punk as they experience it. To each person the punk scene is different. ... No one can define punk beyond his or her own interpretation, because punk, like art, really is whatever you think it is. One question though, is what attracts people to punk? The punk scene a very difficult one to explain unless you have experienced it first hand. There are many different types of music classified under the punk subculture, beginning with ska and emo. These are two of my favorite punk groups. “Emo” which is short for emotional is a very broad title that covers a lot of very different types of emotionally charged punk rock music. “Ska” is a very different type of music that is mainly dance music with a punk edge, but with different instruments usually horns of some type. The punk scene influences the way you dress, the way you act, and also the way you think in some ways. There are so many different issues within the punk scene. One of the main issues is that of the “scenesters” Punk music has become so popular recently, its almost like people try to be different so they can be cool. The rebel thing is “in”, but that isn’t what the punk scene is about.
