Whole Town is sleeping
The Whole Town’s sleeping written in 1950, is found in Ray Bradbury’s short story compilation “Dandelion Wine” published in 1957. ... In the first couple lines of ‘The Whole Town’s Sleeping’, the author starts the story of describing the setting and it already sounds like a typical fear story, “the little town was deep far away from everything, kept to itself by a river and a forest and a ravine”. ... It was necessary for the story to be set at night because if it was in the day the whole town wouldn’t be sleeping and it wouldn’t be scary. ... He creates a vivid image in your head of a quiet, lonely town in America, which is the perfect setting for any scary story. ... The first two paragraphs also are all about the setting, this kicks off the story making you believe that there is a killer running around, that the town is in the middle of nowhere, and that the main character will be walking around at night. ... There are many conflicts in ‘The Whole Towns Sleeping’ such as when they are deciding if they should go out while there is a murderer around which is classified as a mental conflict, or when they encounter Tom Dillon which is classified as a physical conflict, and when they find Eliza Ramsell dead which is classified as an emotional conflict. ... Each one must be sturdy and strong because if one of them weakens the whole story will fall apart.
