I chose to do my assignment over radiography because I was going to go into radiology before I chose my nursing career. I still plan on going back to school after I graduate to get my radiology degree and become an x-ray technologist. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen discovered the foundings of x-rays. He was a professor at Wuerzburg University in Germany. While he was working with a cathode-ray tube in his laboratory he noticed a fluorescent glow of crystals on the table where his tube was directed. Roentgen was working with a tube that consisted of a glass envelope (bulb) with negative and positive electrodes that run through it. He took out the air and that is how he got the fluorescent glow. He covered up the light with think black paper (kind of like construction paper, but not as thick) and it gave off a green tinted fluorescent light instead.
