The Mysteries of Out-of-Body Experiences & Lucid Dreams
Have you ever woken up for a startling dream and wondered where you are only to find out you are still dreaming? For many decades, dreams have been constantly studied. ... “Out-of-body” experiences and lucid dreams have keep researchers second-guessing themselves and their research. ... The great majority of people who have OBEs say they are more real than dreams (Levitan & LaBerge, 1991). ...
There is a strong connection between lucid dreams and OBEs. To some researchers OBEs may take place in lucid dreams. Lucid dream are when a person is dreaming while knowing that they are dreaming. This consciousness allows a person to guide their dreams. Though these two can be very different, when a person suffers from a lucid dream they may experience some of the same effects as OBEs.
There can be a few problems when comparing these two such as:
• OBEs are less frequent than lucid dreams
• OBEs can happen to people who have never had an lucid dream
• OBEs feel like a real event, not a dream
Laboratory Study
The experiment consisted of 107 lucid dreams from 14 different people. ... The dreamer signaled the beginning of the lucid dream by a series of eye movements, this shows they have also entered in REM sleep.
