Uncle Tom was religious and good hearted, strong, intelligent, and kind person. For Tom religion is very important than his freedom. He believed loving all of God’s creatures and serving God by helping them. Tom also feels responsible for other people. He refuses to escape from the Shelby plantation with Eliza because he knows that his sale will make it possible for Mr. Shelby to keep running his plantation and save the other black people. But Tom sold to Mr. Haley a cruel southern slave trader. Mr. Haley and tom then arrived on board ship to New Orleans where he met Eva. When Eva accidentally slipped over into river, Tom saved her. After Tom rescues little Eva. Her father St. Clare buys him. St Clare is good-hearted intelligent master. For Tom this was a good place to live. Tom and Eva study the Bible together and share a belief in a loving God. After years passed Eva's sickness made her weak. Before she died she wished that slavery would end and finally bring love, joy and peace to the land. After Eva’s death, Tom prays St. Clare and admits that he loves his master so much that he would give up his life to see him become a Christian.
